Background
In July 2004, Commissioner Busquin, together with high-level representatives of industry, presented the Sustainable Chemistry Technology Platform to the media. The Technology Platform was set-up on the basis of a joint document produced by CEFIC and EuropaBio , which identified three main technology areas (Industrial biotechnology, Materials technology, Reaction and process design) and one horizontal issues area (including innovation barriers, health-safety-environment issues, education and skills) as the core activities of the Technology Platform to develop strategic research agendas.
Purpose
The Workshop on 9 November discussed a draft vision paper for Sustainable Chemistry in Europe with high-level representatives of key stakeholder organisations focusing on the three technology areas prioritised and on the horizontal issues identified.
CEFIC and EuropaBio have collated inputs from various stakeholder organisations to draft the working vision paper presented and discussed at the workshop.
The Agenda of the Stakeholder Workshop is also available. The workshop was organised by CEFIC and EuropaBio in collaboration with the European Commission, in the framework of the activities of the European Technology Platform for Sustainable Chemistry.
